When waste becomes Money

It was in fact the choice of my friends who out of my reserved integrity choose me to be their waste management club coordinator. I was just a simple, committed and hardworking man bonded with positivity towards the club. Few months after I joined college, I remember my commitment sharing to few colleagues to fix as many dustbins as possible to change the mindset of people in reducing the waste. Waste the unwanted materials determined to be disposed by the provision of law has been the problem every where. Whether by law or not, waste in College of Natural Resources(CNR) has been a great problem. I remember every Saturday burning four barrels of papers, plastics and rubbers. It was the greatest challenge the students were facing until the club came in to action.

The club of 54 members had been toiling every Wednesday and Saturday going door to door in collecting the waste. People don't like waste but for us the love toward it increases as we went to the point of benefiting society with smiling face in them. We had been scavenger, crab dealer and the junk lover. I wonder how many love to segregate the waste of their own. In fact I have seen  people not even  in the position to keep away kitchen waste with other non degradable waste. Ask your self and reflect whether you are the one or not?
Bottles to be sold

When I say we are waste lover, it is not that we love to work with waste. We are waste lover because we want the society  thorough our service change their attitude in reducing waste production. Waste is waste and no body will like to work and deal like a scavenger with that stingy smell. I often doubt and question myself why the society in fact the world of educated men fail to actually implement what they teach and preach. I have seen people teaching on waste management, talking on climate change, talking on global warming and at the same time I have seen those people unable to actually care their own waste.
Packed waste
It is almost a year where the waste management club of CNR has been segregating and collecting waste. we had collected papers, plastics, bottles, electronic waste, metals and any other waste which has been the most bothering materials to the people. We had made cleaning campaign and collected waste many a times from towns and road sides. But, still today I see the same status of those towns full of waste . The scenic beauty of the place is challenged by smell of waste. People complain each other for its smell and never reflect that they are the one in making the worst situation.

Segregated waste in waste store
Thanks to all club members, through our handwork and commitment we could sell a truckload of waste last Friday. We are lucky to have good amount of club budget in implementing any plans and initiatives. I remember the day writing a proposal claiming Nu. 500 just to buy paints to color on  dustbins. Today through the sell of waste we could make Nu.15,000 which will be reserved as our club budget. I look forward for all club members in your initiatives to implement your creative ideas of pro-activity.
Measured waste

Whatever may be the reason, the club is not aimed just to make money from the waste but also to stimulate people in becoming mindful for their waste. We can work and will be working but are we changing the attitude of society? Are the people aware of their fundamental duties? I feel that after long run of working we had somehow made good awareness and changed the attitude of few people but it isn't enough. We have to jointly work together and minimize waste production so that we could achive our goals and objectives.
