The Views of a Bhutanese Forester: Bhutan has plenty of Jobs but no enough Money.

Towards the walk of my self discovery I have toil very hard every second to fulfill the lifelong wishes. The wishes and dreams which my family, parents and kinship are aspiring for. Being from the background of simple peasant life wasn't easy and smooth. It was the start of school days when my parents have been burdened by economic challenges making me to socially adapt the environment which many could not. It was the little hope and determination which had geared up the engine of my life with hard-work as fuel. The Primary, Lower, Middle and High School were conquered with much difficulties and challenges. It was the time when lucky students of urban areas had the opportunity to access to globalized world. Internet facilities, computer courses and exposure were few important opportunities of lucky ones while I remained as dump-headed boy after cows and spades. I remember the time when I was afraid of computer in typing and moving the mouse. That was in class 9 when I first had the opportunity to take information technology course. But, with time the obstacles were cleared with interest and right attitude for learning.

Today I sit in front of desktop exploring the the updates of Bhutanese media. "Kuensel" the reliable and trust worthy site of Bhutanese citizen. Interestingly, I came across the issues raised by Trashigang Dzongkhag Tshogdu on the need of Renewable Natural Resources(RNR) staff in their dzongkhags. The vacant post highlighted were 4 four agriculture and forestry extension agent and five livestock extension agent. While the rural areas of country is in need of such technical graduates the country says it has reached to saturation. The graduates of College of Natural Resources remain unemployed by that reason but the fact is there are many needs of such technical graduates.

Ask the extension agent of dzongkhags on the number of geog they have to look. Each extension agent has to look minimum of two geog even in Punakha. I observed the empty rooms of RNR offices with cobwebs and few empty chairs. And, also I have seen people complaining on unavailability of extension agent. It is not the fault of extension agent who remains unavailable,it is the work load they have to carry out. How can one person look two to three geog. How can there be quality work when one has to carry many works. But, why still CNR graduates are not employed like before when there is need for them in the country. Recently, I haven seen the news on restriction of civil servant to perform extra jobs other then their own profession. What about those extension agent who look after many geog. Why they are given more opportunity and why restrict other?

I am foolish enough to take things on right tract. I have heard, seen and still see many organizations complaining on shortage of men force. The country needs men for job and its plenty but no money. I am sharing this not as the complain and criticism but I as responsible citizen of the country. I am concern of my life, my family and my country. Money is my concern not because I am ambitious but because its the resources which can employ for food and other necessary needs. Its in -fact very sad to see and hear people remaining unemployed after struggling for decades on education. Its not the job that is unavailable it is the money which is not enough.

It is time for me to worry about my future. The time is running for my pass out but every minute I am apprehensive about my future dreams and goals. I remain numb by the fact and still don't understand the reason why there is no enough money for jobs when we are told the country's Gross Domestic Product is increasing. Or is it the time where I have to take the different path spirituality so that all are employed and contended. But it cannot happen because many resources are wasted just to make me who am I?
