Bhutan, the landlocked nation is one of the ten hot spot of biological diversity in the world. Though the country with only 38,394sq km is covered with over 70% of forest. The land promised to maintain 60% of its land under forest coverage for all times to come.it's known as home for one fifth of world's plant species and two third of most endangered plants and animals.
The 70% coverage forest is host to 5603 species of plant(angiosperm and gymnoperm), 693 species of bird (693..current bird status of Bhutan with the discovery of Burmese shrike, Lanius collurioides) and 48 species of Rhododendron (with the discovery of R.khochii and R.princenamgiae).
