Except botanist and interested people in taxonomy who had explore to know the botanical names of plants that are feed with water and nutrients in your nearby garden. Some might have even snapped and uploaded to update your status just to show you have lovely flowers and plants and so was I for many years. From the day I open my eyes to enjoy the beauty of nature, I feel I am surrounded by many friends with lots of scent and nectar and every time I go nearby I feel am warmly welcomed. Upon my journey towards Lobesa town I observed a plant in a garden of nearby shop which not only drove my interest to study but also encourage to explore more. I have seen that rose in garden but never dare to know what actually it is. The plant is not other than Aptenia cordifolia in botanical name popularly known as baby sun rose in English.
It is the species of succulent plant under ice plant family Aizoaceae with Aptenia as its genus name. The flower of this plant is purple and more of heart shaped with green leaves around 3 centimeter long with margins entire and leaves ovate in shape. The stems of this plant is moderately thick and is easily broken. The plant requires full sun to grow which means maximum light period is required for its growth. It is said that the plant is highly drought resistance and keeping it moist for longer period will result in rotting of roots leading to death. Thus what I now feel is that my baby sun rose need more light for better growth....
