It has been my pleasure to explore flora ever since the start of my Botany class. Though it seems to be challenging at the start yet it has now become my favorite of any other things. Abelmoschus manihot is one plant which has boosted my interest to further learn and explore the nature. From the day I saw this plant I was really encouraged to know its botanical name and related information. I somehow with the help of friends could manage its name but its again challenging to retain its name in my memory. I with a second thought changed my profile name to Abelmoschus manihot from my previous name. Its sometimes fun to see your name replaced by name of plant.

Abelmoschus manihot is a flowering plant which was earlier considered as the species of Hibiscus. Its now classified in the genus Abelmoschus and family malvaceae. The plant is also called as hibiscus manihot or sunset hibiscus. The plant is highly nutritious and is considered as one of the nutritious vegetables with high vitamin A and C. The plant is easy to cultivate and its said that it is relatively disease resistant. the leaves of this plant is said to have 12% protein by dry weight. I now feel that this plant is not other than the vegetable Lady finger.
